The Holy Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said to Salman Farsi, “You will leave your faith if you hate me.” (Salman Farsi replied), “How can we hate you? May my mother and father be sacrificed for you O Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam). Through you, Allah guided us to the right way, how can I not love you?” The Messenger of Allah replied, “If you don’t love the Arabs, you don’t love me.” Therefore, to love the Arabs is a duty on us (wajibat). But bad news from among the Arabs if they do not love each other. That is up to them, we are not responsible, but we are ordered, these words are for everyone, except the Arabs, and it was addressed to Salman Farsi. If the Arabs don’t love each other, they fight and kill each other, it is not our business. We love the Arabs, as an order from the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), because he (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) loved for Arabs to be respected and loved. He (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) gave these instructions. No matter what the Arabs do, let them be, don’t hate them. What they do amongst each other, let them do it. We don’t carry that responsibility, Arabs, leave them to each other. We love Arabs because of Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) is an Arab. Grant him, O our Lord, more honour and the heavenly kingdom (sultanate)…wa min Allahi tawfiq.
