Researcher of Political Science & Classical Islam. Initiated by the Khwajagan i-Naqshband.
The venerable Khwaja ‘Abd al-Khaliq al-Ghujdawani provides the following transmission for the Golden Chain tracing back to Sultan ul-Arifin Abu Yazid al-Bistami, as cited by the author of Khwajagan-i-Naqshband (Urdu).
[1] Initiated by Imam ‘Ali ibn Musa al-Rida, then at-Taqi, an-Naqi, al-‘Askari, and saw al-Mahdi. He explained through his teachings of fana and baqa the statements of Ja’far al-Sadiq, who declared, “We are the Most Beautiful Names of Allah”, and his father Muhammad al-Baqir, who declared, “We are the Wajhullah (Face of God)”. Bayazid died the same year as Hasan al-‘Askari and was present at his funeral.
[2] Initiated Ghawth al-Adham Shaykh ‘Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani during his youth. Predicted Shaykh ‘Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani would be the next Ghawth and would declare in Baghdad, “My foot is on the neck of all Saints”.
[3] Transmitted knowledge from Yusuf Hamdani to Shaykh ‘Abd al-Qadir Jilani.

His lineage is described as under: Sayyid Baha-ud-din Naqshband Bukhari, son of Sayyid Muhammad Bukhari, son of Sayyid Jalal-ud-din, son of Sayyid Burhan-ud-din, son of Sayyid Abdullah, son of Sayyid Zain al-Abidin, son of Sayyid Qasim, son of Sayyid Sha’aban, son of Sayyid Burhan-un-Din, son of Sayyid Mahmud, son of Sayyid Bulaq, son of Sayyid Taqi Sufi Khilwati, son of Sayyid Fakhr-ur-Din, son of Sayyid ‘Ali Akbar, son of Imam Hasan al-‘Askari, son of Imam ‘Ali al-Hadi, son of Imam Muhammad al-Taqi, son of Imam ‘Ali ibn Musa ar-Ridha, son of Imam Musa al-Kadhim, son of Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq, son of Imam Muhammad al-Baqir, son of Imam Zayn al-‘Abidin, son of Imam Husayn ibn ‘Ali, son of Imam ‘Ali ibn Abi-Talib.
In her book “Pain and grace: a study of two mystical writers of eighteenth-century Muslim” p.32, Annemarie Schimmel writes:
“Khwaja Mir Dard`s family, like many nobles, from Bukhara; they led their pedigree back to Baha`uddin Naqshband, after whom the Naqshbandi order is named, and who was a descendent, in the 13th generation of the 11th Shia imam al-Hasan al-Askari.”
Baba Tajuddin of Nagpur claimed, “I am the grandson of Imam Hasan Askari (r.a.)”. His lineage is traced through the venerable Khwaja Baha al-Din Shah Naqshband Bukhari. In addition to the centuries old Sufi traditions tracing the lineage of numerous Sufi sages by descent to Imam Hasan al-Askari, a narration in the Shiite hadith collection al-Kafi also establishes Abi Muhammad al-Hasan ibn ‘Ali had relations with concubines and maids in addition to Malika Nargis throughout his life. According to al-Kafi, in his Usool, in the chapter of the Birth of Abi Muhammad al-Hasan ibn ‘Ali:
“When Abi Muhammad al-Hasan ibn ‘Ali became ill…the Sultan…called certain women with knowledge to deal with pregnancy. They examined his (Abi Muhammad al-Hasan ibn ‘Ali [as]) ladies. A certain woman had said one of the ladies is pregnant. She was accomodated in a certain quarter…When the pregnancy was proved invalid, they distributed his legacy between his mother and brother” [al-Kafi, by Muhammad Ya’qub Kulayni. Translated by Muhammad Sarwar. Chap. 124, Birth of Abi Muhammad al-Hasan ibn ‘Ali, p.705].
Who is Ali Akbar, son of Imam Hasan al-‘Askari ? I thought the 11th imam only had one son. I’ve seen some reports which suggests that he had daughters.
