“…then the Shaykh shall be in you. You will then become changed to the personality of your Shaykh. That is known as Fana-u-fi-Shaykh. You will leave your being and the personality and power of your Shaykh will appear through yourself and then you become the Representative of your Shaykh.”-Sultan ul-Awliya Mawlana Shaykh Mehmet Nazim Adil al-Haqqani
[Blog Comment] Bismillah, Didn’t Mawlana Shaykh Nazim qs say those any of those wearing ties are completely controlled by their nafs? Why would a khalifa wear a tie especially when his own shaykh refuses to do so?
[Sayyid Ahmed Amiruddin] Dear brother/sister:
Your email was forwarded to me personally. Thank you for your advice. I am not wearing a tie, rather I am dressed for work. Mawlana Sultan ul-Awliya is a Mufti, and a full-time Shaykh by profession. Each of his students have different tasks assigned to them. It would be better for us to think best of others, and pray for them [i.e. their success]. Here is an interesting picture of Sultan ul-Awliya, it demonstrates that the hadith you quoted is taken out of context, and should not used to attack other murids or khalifas for that matter.
