Obama on the Need for Seperation of Church and State in America and US Policy

Q. Some people argue that America is a Christan nation, which seeks to destroy Islam in the name of Christanity and Biblical doctrines of hate for the Arabs. How do you respond to this?

A. It is correct to say that there are groups in America which oppose Arabs and Muslims because of their Christan beliefs, however, with the election of President Obama these groups currently do not represent the beliefs of mainstream America. This is because our Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa aalihi wa sallam) taught, ‘your leaders are your actions’. The convictions of President Obama demonstrate a change in America, towards good and away from enemity with Arabs and Islam. The following video of his views demonstrates this and address our primary concerns with US policy in the Middle East being driven by beliefs over justice. May Allah guide them.

“Democracy demands that the religiously motivated translate their concerns into universal, rather than religion specific values.”-Barack Obama
